Men's Sheds help men to come together, continue to be mentally and emotionally involved and productive while contributing to the community—all of which are keys to good overall health.
We aim to create a healthy environment for all men, but especially for those who are underemployed or no longer employed, to build new relationships, while combating social isolation and depression, by providing a safe space for men to connect.
A Men’s Shed is a place where men share their skills and learn new ones, exchange a few tall tales while enjoying a camaraderie all too rare today.
Some of our members like to measure, saw and hammer, others are content to sit back and listen when someone else talks. All are welcome.
Our projects will be many and varied, depending on the skills and interests of our members.
It's early days for our shed. As a group we are still experimenting with interests and activities.
Yet we have accomplished much in preparation for the time when pandemic restrictions abate.
Nevertheless, Men's Shed Ottawa Centre has been able to remain active by meeting on Zoom and in low-risk space made available by a member, including a large workshop where some hands-on activities were possible. There is currently a core group of 15 members who meet every two weeks.
Men’s Shed Ottawa Centre supports its members and local community. We will reach out as part of giving back. If willing, you can participate in community events or volunteering.
